Finally A Gay Character on Lost!

Fucking finally.  One in ten, people.  One in ten.*

As if they'd read my posts, the LOST filmmakers finally revealed a gay character.  It's Tom aka Mr Friendly, one of the others that was killed last season.

In the first scene we see all the trappings of a gay character - a penthouse, fine food, wine and a younger boyfriend, but I love that later in this episode he's the one that says, "man up".  If you remember his character from previous episodes he also is awfully butch - plays football, shoots guns and is the one that wants to spare killing the castaways.

Here's the scene where he is revealed as gay:

Now you know what your job is right? As you're TIVOing through your next episode, pay special note of the advertisers of this episode and in your travels this weekend, try to buy products from as many of them as possible.

You can also watch the entire episode online at abc.com

*In a study done years ago it was estimated that one in every ten people in America is gay. This study was as popular as the Kinsey scale, which concluded that people are gay or straight on a scale of 1-5. LIke Paul Lynde would be a 5, Mel Gibson would be a 1 and Angelina Jolie would be say a 3.

4 pithy remarks. Click here to Comment:

It wast a great scene, I kind of suspected it was Mr. Friendly because of how he was so quick to dismiss Kate "She's not my type" earlier in the series.

Thank goodness for DVR (or TIVO)I "rewound" it twice to make sure I saw what I thought I saw. And then on Lipstick Jungle we got the traditional RATINGS grabbing attempt with a lovely lesbian kiss and proposition for a three way...hmmm

Anyway, regarding Kinsey the scale is 0 to 6. I confirmed this in my old Sexual Psychology book and for the younger set from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

The Kinsey scale attempts to describe a person's sexual history or episodes of their sexual activity at a given time. It uses a scale from 0, meaning exclusively heterosexual, to 6, meaning exclusively homosexual.

Just for accuracy, since I was once roundly corrected on this for thinking it was 1 to 6.

I need to re-watch the episode. Like Jam1221, I remember that line, "She's not my type." Now, can we get a lezzie?
