    Hmmm... a bit of a trick question, no?

    Kate Winslet played gay/bi in Heavenly Creatures

    Vanessa Redgrave played gay in Julia as well as The Bostonians

    Susan Sarandon played bi in The Hunger although since it was a vampire seduction perhaps it's not being counted as a gay role)

    Wesley Snipes in To Wong Foo (he was in drag, but I don't remember if he was gay)

    William Hurt in Kiss of the Spider Woman

    Shirley MacLaine in The Children's Hour

    Glenn Close in Serving In Silence...

    Meryl Streep in Manhattan
